The dedication, open house and "uncoupling" ceremony was held Saturday, July 14. Citizens along with local government and emergency service officials attended the ceremony and were given tours of the new station. The new station is unique in the fact that it is a public-private partnership with the city, the county and a private developer.

The Chapel Hill Fire Department (CHFD) provides fire protection, basic rescue and first responder medical services to the Town of Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina. The department operates from 5 fire stations located strategically across the community and staffed by nearly a hundred employees.
The CHFD is home to the famous Carolina Blue fire trucks and is proud to be the UNC Tar Heels fire protection.
